I encourage all of my patients with any kind of problem, concern, or issue with their hearing aids to bring them to me, the sooner the better. With my new fittings, even with experienced patients, I also encourage them to write down any particular issues, or problems as well as the environment that they occurred in, as it is really difficult to figure out what they are experiencing, unless you have a greater idea of the overall sound field and operational environment in which the particular complaint, issue, or problem is occurring, as today’s dynamic circuitry responds entirely different in a single source, quiet environment, than when faced with multiple sound sources of various types and volumes, as occurs in every social environment.
Over the years I’ve had some patients bring me some pretty interesting challenges, but none recently raised the eyebrows of my office manager, or caused me to smile quite like the request that came with an old patient’s request for adjustment of his new Moxi 6 fitting. Seems he is hearing better than with his two year old Dot2 360, and is really beginning to enjoy hands free cell phone conversations delivered right to his ear, and the streaming features it allows for his TV and iPhone, but his written request was that I needed to, “Put the Ping back in my Golf Swing.”
